We'll collect the bikes from your hotel or a convenient, safe spot in either Queenstown or Frankton at around 4:30pm. Bike locks will be provided on this tour.
Whilst we provide you with the essentials like an E-Bike, helmet and map you'll need to bring along anything that you'd like with you on your adventure. Handy things to pack include :
-
Phone and camera
-
Suncream

Water and snacks

Our larger bikes all have a bottle holder but regrettably the smaller bikes don't have space on the frame. If you need to pack things in a bag, a small backpack is recommended to keep everything safe and secure. There are water bottles available on request, we also have phone holders that can be great for recording those all important TikTok vids! If you're riding a step-through model you can request panniers as an additional item to your hire.

Comfortable clothes and footwear are essential for riding E-Bikes on the gravel trails around Queenstown. In summer the temperature can get up to the high 20's and riding in shorts and tees is all good but pants and extra layers are definitely needed in the winter. Regardless of the season, dress for the conditions and always keep in mind that the prevailing wind can take a few degrees off the forecast temperature. To be safe, we'd recommend always packing an extra layer and don't forget your rain jacket if it's due to rain.

Top Spots On This Tour
Arrowtown.
This charming little town offers some delicious places to start your adventure. If you're looking for breakfast checkout Provisions Cafe on Buckingham Street or head to the Arrowtown Bakery for a famous pie! If it's just coffee you're looking for head to Wolf Coffee Roasters on the main street. Local tip, if you're in a hurry grab a cup of Joe at the New Orleans Hotel, it's usually quiet in the early mornings.
Make sure to stock up on snacks if you haven't brought any with you. The kids will love the Remarkable's Sweet Shop and the local Night & Day offers everything you'll need.
Arrow River Bridges.
If you decide to take the Twin Rivers Trail back to Frankton you'll head out of Arrowtown along the Arrow River Bridges Trail. This beautiful trail follows the Arrow River towards the confluence with the Kawarau River. Along here you'll cross over stunning bridges and cycle by Alpacas and Goats. In Autumn the leaves in Arrowtown and along this river trail are a beautiful sight to behold. Get your camera out for amazing Insta photos.
Ayrburn.
This new development lies south of Millbrook resort, close to Arrowtown. Your best trail option would be to ride the Countryside Trail to Frankton. Ayrburn is a stunning new lifestyle precinct, blending heritage charm with modern luxury. Set on a historic farm, it offers dining, vineyards, and boutique experiences amidst breathtaking alpine scenery.
Kimi-Akau Bridge & The Hugo Tunnel.
Both of these new attractions are on the newly opened Shotover Gorge Trail. The trail heads through to Frankton via Tuckers Beach and you'd be best picking it up from the Wharehuanui Trail, just outside of Arthur's Point. Checkout our recent blog post for more information on this amazing new trail.
Cargo & Canyon Breweries.
If you're looking for a little 'crafty' reward then you'd be best heading for Arthur's Point along the new Wharehuanui Trail. The twin breweries are a great place for lunch and both offer amazing craft beers and ciders. Cargo is at Gantley's Tavern as you get into Arthur's Point and Canyon is at the Edith Cavell Bridge as you're leaving. Perfect!

3 Trails, which one will you choose?
With the recent opening of the new Shotover Gorge Trail, there are actually 4 different ways you can ride to Queenstown from Arrowtown. Check out these spectacular trails that await you on your Whakatipu Adventure. For more detailed information check out our trail directory here.
Option 1 - Twin Rivers Trail
Taking the Arrow River Bridges Trail out of Arrowtown leads you to Arrow Junction Road and the turn-off for the Twin Rivers Trail. From here it's an 18.5km ride back to Frankton Beach. This is the longest of the 3 options but arguably the most stunning. Ride along the mighty Kawarau River, up big climbs and past roaring jet boats. Add an extra 6-8kms (30 minutes) if you're riding all the way back to Queenstown.
Option 2 - The Countryside Trail
The Countryside Trail takes you on a journey through some of the basin's best looking properties. Through the luxurious Millbrook Resort with it's lush golf course greens, and past Ayrburn with all of it's striking beauty and historic looking buildings. From here you'll ride through the rural homes of Dalefield and over the Lower Shotover Bridge, back to Frankton. Total length is 13.5kms and add another 6-8kms if you're heading all the way back to Queenstown.
Option 3 & 4 - The Wharehuanui Trail & The Shotover Gorge Trail
Recently dislodged as Queenstown's newest trail, the Wharehuanui Trail gives you the most direct route back to Queenstown. It also serves as the connecting trail from Arrowtown to our newest trail, the Shotover Gorge Trail. Arguably the most striking of all the trails, the Shotover Gorge Trail features a 90m swing bridge and a 108m mining tunnel. Not for the faint of heart! 13kms is the total length from Millbrook to Arthur's Point but add more if riding all the way to Queenstown or through the Shotover Gorge Trail.
